Priscilla Nicholson is a nationally known watercolor artist with more than
25 years experience. She began her training as a classical ballet dancer, and danced with the Tulsa
Ballet Theatre, and is adjunct faculty for ASU. A BA degree in psychology,
working as a Occupational therapist using her art and dance. She has solo
exhibitions in her studio and the West Branch Library, Downtown San Angelo
Art Festival, Monthly art walks, as well as the Chicken Farm Art Center.
Her commissioned floral and animal portraits and painting classes and
workshops are highly sought after in San Angelo, and other Texas cities. She
is particularly noted for her spontaneous and direct watercolor work. She is
noted for her use of color and how color excites the viewer and the flow
from her brush like music from a fine instrument. Priscilla conducts weekly
classes at Art in the Studio of the Arts and gallery 11 on Still life,
florals, figures, animals, portraits, drawing and color theory in San
Angelo. Many of her students have taken multiple classes and workshops from
her and keep coming back time after time. Her love, knowledge, passion and
command of the watercolor medium is portrayed in her paintings. And passed
onto her hundreds of students who have taken her classes and workshops
throughout the years, and letting them develop their own style.
Priscilla is member of the San Angelo Art Club where she exhibits her work
and won numerous awards. She won 1st place at Coleman Fine Arts competition.
In 2003” Everything Goes-Almost”, and Artist of the year. First place in
2006-2007 C. Russell Myers show for “The Sacred Dance”, “Lilies in Blue”
and” Dutch Iris”, and in 2010 “Anxiously Waiting my Turn,” and “Walking
Under The Cherry Blossoms” for Fiesta in Realism. She has developed her own
painting style from studying the old masters and notable artists, Cathy
Lubke, Nancy Mobley, and mentor JoNell Richardson. Workshops with nationally
known Joseph Fettingis, Diane Maxey, and Stacy Erickson. She is a member of
West Texas Watercolor Society.
